TOUR
- For the serious cyclists who are used to self-reliance and who seek adventure,
this collection provides many options of multi-day rides ranging from few
days up to few weeks in length that will take you through some of the more
beautiful places in the world. Each tour and its individual daily rides
are rated in terms of difficulty, based on the overall altitude profile
and length of individual rides, while taking into account the heavier load
you will inherently carry on your bicycle, tandem, or recumbent.
|
ROAD - For cyclists who prefer
to ride on paved roads or bike paths this collection will take you on paved country roads or other
secondary roads through scenic and interesting routes all over the world.
You will also find routes that will be entirely on bike paths free of motorized
traffic and some which may be a mix of paved bike paths and country roads.
Each route's difficulty rating is based on its length and its altitude profile.
The level of difficulty is determined based on the fitness level of an average
cyclist in good health and physical condition who rides 50 to 100 miles
per week during cycling season.
|
DESTINATION - For cyclists who like the adventure of touring
but prefer the comfort of staying at B&B, Hotel, Motel, or Inn, this collection
offers specifically selected daily rides which radiate out from a single
location (usually a resort town or some other type of resort destination)
into the surrounding areas. This is perfect for cyclists seeking adventure
without the inconveniences of full self-support tour. Whether you are planning
a short weekend getaway or a longer vacation combining cycling and other
activities this collection is something to review.
|
FAMILY - This collection of rides
you will be able to enjoy with your children, whether
they are riding alone, or are pulled in an add-on cart, on a tandem, or
by other type of bicycle attachment. Most of the routes in this collection
are on bike paths with no motorized traffic and with very flat altitude
profile - i.e. no long hills. Generally each ride is less than 10 miles
in total length and offers some sort of entertainment for kids.
|
Additionally, most of the rides and tours listed are enhanced with slideshows enabling you to virtually experience the scenery you may encounter along the ride or on the tour. You can also download detailed maps, altitude profiles, navigation directions, GPS tracks and more.
|
Each ride and tour description includes the driving
directions on how to get to the start of the ride/tour and where to park,
the ride/tour total distance, the hazards to watch out for and points of
interest along the route; it also highlights the best places for rest stops
and refreshment opportunities along the ride. Many other technical details
are listed for each ride/tour along with easy-to-understand icon-based descriptions
such as to
identify newly added ride or to
point out there is mountainous terrain on the specific ride.
